Central Telephone Building

 

The Historic Central Union Telephone Building was built in 1906. One of the earliest high-rises in Columbus, it served as the headquarters for the Central Union Telephone Company, one of the earliest telephone companies in the United States. The building had over 600 miles of wiring and serviced 5,100 subscribers.

Commerce Building

35 E. Gay St. also called The Historic Commerce Building was home to the Columbia Building & Loans starting in 1926. The tellers were positioned on the west wall and the vault (which still exists today) was used as the safe. Ohio Bell took over the entire five story building around 1940. During this time, a 10 foot drop ceiling was added to the bank lobby on the first floor hiding the chandelier and magnificent arching windows for almost 60 years. When the last tenant of the first floor space left in 2002, the ceiling was removed only to uncover a 100 year old chandelier. The tile floor was removed to expose 100 year old marble flooring. Above the vault you will find original marble and the archway at the entrance of the building is 100 year old granite.

  • Suite cleaning and trash removal to be completed by tenant. Trash to be placed in large containers provided by Landlord.
  • Landlord maintains all required cleaning in hallways and restrooms.

What is included?

  • A discounted rent structure.
  • New carpet and painting if required, ceiling work needed, lighting reconfiguration, demo of walls
